About Graham Muir (Gramble Glass)

I was born in Paisley in 1957 where I continue to live and work. I studied design at Glasgow College of Building and Printing graduating with a Diploma in Design in 1979. Since 1979 I had jobs as an Interior Designer, Draughtsman, Project Manager, architectural model maker and various others, all in the construction industry.

I developed a strong interest in stained glass which I used or encountered often in building projects. I wanted to learn some of the basics of working with glass and I started at modular night classes at college and with some professional glass businesses. Eventually I had to follow my instincts and I recently jumped from a glass fusing hobbiest to become a full time fused and stained glass artist working from my garden studio in Paisley.

No other art medium allows the full intensity of light and colour that glass does and for me glass fusing was a natural evolution from stained glass work. I regard glass fusing as painting with light, allowing the creation of fully finished durable art with brilliant permanent colour.

I am developing many other projects based on Scotland's landscapes and natural history all to be created in fused glass. There will be lots of new things on this site and its links over the months ahead so please keep visiting.

Gramble is a family nickname.
